Frequently asked questions
Why b1.7.3?
There are some reasons why I chose this version:
- Simple gameplay. More sandbox, less adventure. Some people will even find this version nostalgic.
- It's extremely cheap to host so it even fits in Raspberry PI 3. The server uses ~300 MB of RAM. For comparsion, Paper 1.20.4 without any plugins uses ~1.5 GB.
- The API and protocol are so damn simple that there is even a Rust implementation. I like simplicity as you can see. :)
But it's so boring! There are no bosses, dungeons, treasures, events, etc.
Well, that's probably because we have different visions of how the Minecraft gameplay should look like. b1.7.3 is the last version before the Adventure Update. The new updates now more look like an RPG and less like a mix of survival and sandbox.
No, I still play the new versions! But b1.7.3 and older versions just feel different.
However, It is possible that later the server will be upgraded to newer versions or will use some mods that add new items, mobs and so on.
Aight, how to play?
First, buy a copy of Minecraft. Then download version b1.7.3 using your favorite launcher. I prefer Prism Launcher because it makes it easy to manage different instances and mods (including JAR mods that old versions usually use).
